Read this first before you invest time in using similar software

This repository is based on Flask-Gopher. Flask is a python framework for the web.(meaning http+https)
Flask-Gopher tricks Flask to send gopher data over http and not the gopher protocol.
This works fine as a development tool or in a local network.
But often gets blocked by serious webservers such as nginx and others.
For an actual gopher server have a look at gophernicus

with gopher, and the limited options of plaintext code is very close to content. so why would you use

$ lynx gopher://crunk.website
