The club is open to all levels of computer expertise and experience to come together to imagine what a computer might be if it weren't a purely consumer product. If you're an expert or an amateur, we would like to invite you to join the Homemade Computer Club to communally make sense of what should be computed and how. As part of Varia's programme theme of Seasonal Computing, the Homemade Computer Club wants to look towards modes of computing as they are done within reason/season. Computing that is frugal, and computing that is communal. Through a series of meet-ups, presentations and mini-workshops, we will engage with unconventional computing methods that will help us imagine computing differently. Our second meet-up will begin with the prompt: What is a Memory? By thinking through how we capture specific data and store them for later, perhaps we can begin thinking about what is important to keep and how does it effect our sense of time. Whilst the technical understanding might be important, we also want to think through the memories that make up the collective imagination of computing and how we can begin to imagine/remember our way to a different kind of computer. We'll be joined by Kim Kleinert who will be helping us think through how computers can help us think through time differently. Guest bio: [Kim Kleinert](https://kimkleinert.com/) is a graphic designer and developer currently thinking about materiality and communality of the web. She likes to engage with subversive methods of publishing and their on and offline infrastructures.
