In 2023, Varia hosted a PrePostPrint Local Meetup, where a Netherlands-based group was formed. The PPP NL group is a local satellite of the wider PPP community. While free/libre open source practices seem to be more widely discussed in the context of France and Belgium, we are missing spaces for exchange and converse in the local context of The Netherlands.

So, in September and October 2024, two more PPP Local Meetups will be held at Varia, within a new, experimental format. These meetups will be combined with Calm Coding, which are low-key social hangouts for those who like to write computer programs in the company of other people. For these PPP Local Meetups, there will be no set agenda. Instead, the idea is to have some informal moments to meet, hang out and spend some time together working on design and publishing experiments at Varia. As usual with Calm Coding, there will be a check-in at the beginning of the evening, and a check-out summary at the end. These meetups are free and open to the public. No registration, nor expertise is required.
