Dear CSS writers, web-artisans and declarative artists, Declarations is organising its first meetup at Varia in Rotterdam.
Declarations is an ongoing artistic research project into the poetic materiality of the CSS web-standard and its echoes on design and artistic practices.
For that occasion we decided to focus two days on CSS inside emails. Emails are an ambiguous place for HTML/CSS, since its not per se a browser but also not entangled to HTML/CSS (some of you may be reading this letter in plain text).
Through non-linear cascading email conversation exercises, well questions ourselves on mode of address, low-tech & high-tech dichotomy, nostalgia-induced technology, spam, newsletters and others.
And give forms to those by writing our own CSS inside of email replies, making publication happen through conversations.
To show interest in attending this event, please email info[at]varia.zone with **Declarations** in the subject heading. We are looking for a group of pen pal enthusiasts to explore CSS outside of the browser, who have some familiarity with the language. To get the most out of the worksession, attendance on both days is important & appreciated.
Yours Declaratively,
Doriane, Gijs, Clara, Vinciane, Simon
