# What is the 15%?
|
||
|
||
Varia has a 15% solidarity tariff on all our commissions and invitations. This is a mode of fair practice for our collective infrastructure. Varia is composed of many people, and we as a collective entity want to recognise the different forms of labour that go into Varia, and how we benefit from Varia in different ways.

||
|
||
The 15% share goes into our common fund which is used to maintain Varia's different capacities, such as our rent, bills, machinery care, events, emergencies, and our human joys and needs.
|
||
|
||
Your contribution to the common fund in our invoices is a way to acknowledge and make collective work possible.
|
||
|
||
# When does it apply?
|
||
|
||
The 15% applies to the day rate of Varia on work commissioned to one or more Varia members by an outside entity.
|
||
|
||
# How is it calculated?
|
||
|
||
Varia is a registered non-profit association that charges BTW.
|
||
|
||
The 15% is calculated before BTW/VAT has been added to the final fee.
|
||
|
||
Here is an example of how it is calculated, using Varia's day rate:

|
||
> Varia works with a day rate of **250 EUR**.
|
||
> On top of that, we calculate the 15%, which is in this case **37.50 EUR**.
|
||
> In total, this is a day rate of **287.50 EUR**.
|
||
> When 21% VAT applies, the final fee is **347.88 EUR** incl. VAT (of which 60.38 EUR is VAT).
|
||
> When 9% VAT applies, the final fee is **313.38 EUR** incl. VAT (of which 25.88 EUR is VAT).
|
||
> When 0% VAT applies, the final fee is **287.50 EUR**.
