- part of the grant is to have 2 external advisors (administration advice person (force finance)? someone who can advise on bi-laws? and code of conduct (realitygaps, ginger coons)?)

- 6th of June we know if we are awarded the grant. But also, we need/want to do these things ...

- proposal for a new about text https://pad.vvvvvvaria.org/wg.website (can we take 15 minutes to go over the text and publish it?
* Digital Autonomy continued
- Elephant response letter
- how to pursue with the work engaged concretely? (a lot of people were interested in "varia's expertise" and would like to join efforts without being very tech savvy)
- has Constant replied to the email that was sent to them after the workshop? Not by email, but a big thanks was expressed f2f
- next meetings

- for writing an invitation to other self organised spaces: May 3rd

- continue writing the response letter with invited self-organisers: Monday 27th of May + Tuesday 4th of June (both between 19:00 - 22:00)

  we use this pad to organise this > https://pad.vvvvvvaria.org/elephant-response

> hard to meet before perhaps, but it would be good to re-strategise this letter writing initiative.

> maybe in-between we can chat on xmpp?

- ODD update
- 15-20 July Roel, Julie, Manetta, Silvio, Cristina travel to Bucharest to meet ODD and work together on diggggitaaaaalllll autoooonoooomyyyy
* Varia publications after Open Day + Tech Zine Fair, cash moment ;)

* Upgrade
- New beamer (Yes) -- Danny is on the job
- A faster and bigger water boiler - kettle? (Yes) -- Roel is on the job
- fridge for drinks (zwarte vos has one for 35 eur)
* Varia server backup issue
- It's done! No issue :)
- https://vvvvvvaria.org/manual/index_files/server.html (See "Making Backups" and friends)
- https://vvvvvvaria.org/~luke/backuplogs/
* Possible sandbox server & sudo rights

- sudo rights (relates to feminist server notes below)

-- putting a monitor on the server to avoid bitcoinminers,ransomware,etc

-- introducing people to the

- would be good to have another server where we can install things freely; one that does not interfere with the Varia main server. nonetheless with some things, sudo access is still necessary:

    -- it can be hard to do work on the library without having rights on the server (we need the presence of Luke, otherwise we cannot restart the server)

    -- or to work on the Varia archive without a sudoer with us

- can Varia commit/does Varia want to commit to a feminist server? what does this mean? what do we want to do?

- it would be good to mention the fragility of our infrastructure, when people start to use it. For example, we can add a message in the Etherpad. -> https://pad.vvvvvvaria.org/variapad_introtext Working on the expectations that we shape.

- we could write a mentioning/statement of our intention to relate to serving and hosting from a feminist perspective

- we probably will need a private etherpad, all these pads are basically on the street when someone knows the url

- 2 wifi networks, one public one that can be shared with everyone (Kamiel also has lightboxes for us ;) we could make a WIFI sign lightbox! one for each side)

- let's share telephone numbers and home addresses as backup networks

A Feminist server…..

Is a situated technology.

It is run for and by a community that cares enough for her/they to exist.

It builds on the materiality of software, hardware and the bodies gathered around it.

It opens herself/themselves to expose processes, tools, sources, habits, patterns.

It knows that networking is actually an awkward, promiscuous and parasitic practice.

It is autonomous in the sense that she/they decide for her/they own dependencies.

It treats technology as part of a social reality, and finally

It takes the risk of exposing her/they insecurity while trying hard not to apologies when she/they sometimes is/are not available.

- Proposal to formally agree this to feminist server practice as Varia
\o/

- lbrain:
- basic user management docs in manual (hwo to add, query, add sudo, etc.)
- add some monitoring to check if the server has a master of coin on it
- hand out some sudo access!
